Creature 1 - armoured apes

Mammal, lives in large forests in tropical environments, does not climb trees often. Can grow up to 12 ft in height, possesses great strength and impressive agility. Only one eye, does not have good vision(no depth perception) but does have good smelling and hearing. Their horrible vision causes a violent and aggressive behaviour between each other and more so towards outsiders. They often live in harems or lone males.

These strange mammals have developed a remarkable and gruesome behaviour of attaching pieces of rock, wood or other hard materials into their very flesh to form protective armour. Surprisingly, this does not seem to have many negative effects, it is assumed that these creatures have an extremely strong immune system and this prevents the wounds caused by the procedure to infect and kill the creatures.

This armour seems to be quite sophisticated, these highly intelligent creatures have developed through trial and error armour that allows for optimal protection while retaining freedom of movement. The brute strength of these beasts allow them to attach large amounts of solid rock to themselves without incapacitating their movement.

It is under speculation how much pain these beasts endure when going through this procedure. However, Dr. Brooker has observed, through 2 years of extensive observation, that the armour is applied piece by piece, often slightly younger creatures might be observed with only a couple pieces of armour on. Dr. Brooker noted to have witnessed a young adult apply a slate of rock on his mauled shoulder, this explains the nature of the phenomenon in that these brutes apply armour where they were previously injured. This procedure was described as very gruesome, yet calculated. The young creature had been carving the rock and using other rocks to mold a shoulder piece. The armour seemed to be inserted and held there by shaping spikes in the plates to stab into the flesh and fasten the armour.
